I envy you, have fun and even the most mundane thing can be a treasure. Its not often that you can hit a country that has 3 thousand years of history. Take lots of pictures and stay safe.

I was going to say that you will enjoy Italy too, As long as you stay away from Naples. I don't know why the Navy likes that town so much, it's a Pit.

But if you get a chance to see Florance I would recommend it highly. Nice town, with great people (at least it was 22 years ago).

Enjoy yourself in Italy. I know I did, except in Naples. I hate Naples. Rome, however...

Enjoy yourself over there. What part of Italy are you going to? I went to Aviano Air Base last year and there is some beautiful country around there. I was there for 2 weeks but didn't get to see much on that trip. I did make it to Venice which was nice.
