I appreciate the links that everyone has sent. This has expanded my knowledge of the online tools I can use to research what kits and PE are available.

Paul

I liked the way they showed the AM sets below the info for the model. Granted everything is listed in Hong Kong Dollars, but my current concern is to find the best place to discover AM parts for a model … and the way Hobbyeasy does it makes it easy.

Anyone else have any more secrets or info?

Well Paul. If all of the prices are in Hong Kong dollars just go here for help with that problem.

Then? No more Hong Kong dollars!!!

http://www.modelsbymickster.com/ This shop had the Atak zimmerit set for the Dragon Elefant. Real nice set, decent price, good service. I recommend him.

Paul-go to Squadron.com and look up your kit on 'Search'-when the hit comes up there is a list of items other people bought with this purchase. Usually PE, AM and books.

I use www.luckymodel.com, I find there prices the cheapest, but shipping can get preaty high. I also use greatmodels.com.

Also, to swich the currancy look at the left side under 'Select Your Currency:' It will convert all the prices on the website.

Also try...

www.modelsforsale.com
www.militaryhobbies.com or .ca
www.northstarhobbies.com
www.armorama.com
www.ebay.ca or .com or .co.uk

And the ones already said.

Good luck!

Greatmodels is awesome. Just go there and do a search and dozens of things ought to pop up. Best thing is they have photos for everything.

I go to to missionmodels.com, squadron.com and modelmecca.com. If you are looking for specific AM parts, try asking in the Armor forum. The On the Way website is also a good source of info for 1/72 kits and parts. The URL has changed but I don't have it updated. Hopefully somebody can post the address...

How do you find out what detail kits are available?
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, August 28, 2005 10:16 PM
Greetings Everyone.

I’ve recently gotten back into modeling, but this time my two oldest boys join me at the table almost every evening (which has already made for some great moments).

One of the things I’ve been planning is a collection of good 1:72 armor. How do all of you find out what detail kits are available for a given kit that you’ve purchased?

Perhaps I’m attempting to put the cart before the horse. Should I research which detail sets are available before I purchase a kit? (Previous question still stands for cases where the kit is already on my shelf.)

I’m starting out with Dragon’s Sd.Kfz. 184 Elefant. I must say that I was impressed with the detail in this miniscule kit. Each of my boys has a 1:72 kit (One Revell and one Hasegawa). The Dragon is by far better detailed.

As it stands right now when I'm looking for detail kits I end up searching Squadron first to see what they have available for a kit. Then I shop around the various online stores to find the lowest price available.

While we’re at it can you all recommend you favorite online stores? It would sure help me build my modeling shopping store list!

Thank you all in advance for your help.

Regards,
Paul
