How will I ever finish them!!? inspiration needed

I don't think I'll ever finish my two models in progress right now. I need help (not that kind of help). Both of them are about 1/3 done and have to be complete by next Friday. They are the Tamiya 1/35 Panzer IV Ausf J. and the Revellogram 1/48 F-15E Strike Eagle.

F-15
I filled the gaps between the CFTs and the lower fuselage with medium thick CA, but it krazed like Krazzzy and I can't really sand it, what to do?

The airbrake on top didn't fit, so I sanded the edges and got it a wee bit thin, so there's a ap, so I filled it, sanded, and now there is sanding residue IN the seam, and it is recessed slightly. Grrr... Angry [:(!] Banged Head [banghead]

My landing gear is all screwed up can't mask them well, even with Eduard die cut mask , enough said.

My canopy is all screwed up, tried to future dip it, I get it right until it dries, when small, about 5 teenie tiny things of dust scattered around.

My future I spray on doesn't look good at all. It looks grainy. I think it has fingerprints on it.

Panzer IV

I ordered a set of fruils and aluminum barrel from Roll models and still haven't gotten them. I want to cancel, what is the phone number? I think my business goes with R&J Enterprises now. what's their phone No.? My E-mail is going to be down for a while.

How do I make roadwheels accurate?

What colors were the items placed on the hull? ie. jack and cleaning rods.

The skin color for the commander? The color of the camo pants? the medals on his uniform?

thanks guys, I need help!Big Smile [:D]

Wow! Lots of material there.

Why do they have to be done by next Friday? Model building isn't a race.

Roll Models is in the UK aren't they? If so, it takes longer for things to arrive. If they have been shipped you probably can't cancel.

For sanding residue in the seams, use an old toothbrush.

To strip Future, soak the canopy in any ammonia based cleaner like Windex.

To sand the CA, place masking tape a couple of layers thick and get out your files and have at it!

Try painting the wheels a single base colour again. Thin some paint and let it flow around the rim using a brush. Paint as normal with a brush.

Most equipment on a tank is painted the same as the hull colour. I like to vary my equipment ever so slightly to allow for the difference in the paints used by different manufacturers. Chances are good that the manufacturer of the tank is not the same one as the equipment manufacturer so slightly different paint.

Work on them one at a time and eventually you'll get it done. Imagine it finished and how good it will look compared to a part kit. That works for me!

You're better off to hold off than to rush a kit. You'd hate to waste all the time you've put into it for the sake of just finishing it.

I've ordered from Roll Models and thought they were quite expedient. They are out of Minnesota.

I just really want something to enter in our club's contest. I know I can finish the panzer, but I don't know about the plane. Stupid seam filling, I never should have done that.

Even though you'd like to get some projects completed, I'm sure your fellow club members can completely respect your decision to slow down, rather than rush your builds.

Take your time, you're young yet! Wink [;)]

I was in your same predictament a few weeks ago. I had three projects on the ways and the great Kansas City show coming up. I started to want to rush but then had to do a reality check and say to myself, do I really want to enter something that was put together in a hurry, or wait until next year and enter something that I took my time on, enjoyed, and am proud of?

I chose the latter and am glad I did. I missed the show anyway because of last minute family emgergencies.

Roll Models wait a month before shipping. I have had an order take 3 months on items that were all in-stock.

Will the world end if you miss getting an entry in the contest? No, of course not but it is disappointing sure if you don't make it.

Life is full of disappointments, but I think it far better to enter a single well made model than say 5 mediocre ones.

Some builders plan their models well over a year in advance of a contest. Did you leave enough time to build them or were they too complex to be completed in the time frame you allowed?

Why not slow down and work on them with the intent of entering next year? You can always start a new model after you finish these ones and each model teaches you new techniques and skills you can incorporate into the next one.

We also learn from our mistakes as well.

So, I guess I'm saying don't sweat the contest. Go and see the models, ask questions and perhaps you may see some ideas you can use in your next build.
