There isn't one for IPMS on the list, but I figured there must be some sort of club around here.

There is a group that gets together every month or so at Nautilus Aquatics and hobbies on Quinpool Rd. Though invited regularly, I have never actually attended. I think it is mostly an imformal gathering of car modelers. If you are interested, stop in and ask Mike (the proprieter) about it. Tell him that you want to get on the email list. He sends out an email anytime a new kit (mostly cars) comes in, and any time a meeting comes up.

Although I haven't been to it in a few years, there is an annual model meet at the Halifax Fleet Club every winter, around April I think (ask around at the hobby shops). There are all types of models there, especially planes and naval subjects. IF the military or plane builders are getting together regularly, these guys would be the ones to ask.

The guys at Maritime Hobbies and Crafts (John or Mike) might know of some clubs in the area. I think there is a bunch of model builders that sort of hang out there on Saturday mornings. They might know something, also. This place is located across the street from the Halifax library.

Thanks Bainford. I asked one of the guys at Maritime Hobby, but didn't come away with an answer for a model club. He said he and two others often get together to build phantoms, but that seemed like a couple of old friends, not a club.

I had heard about the Aquatics on Quinpool, and that they mostly have cars. Think I'll stop in and take a look-see anyway.

Thanks!

No problem QT. I have noticed since my original post that you build ship models. The model show at the Halifax Fleet Club should have some stuff of interest to you. I'm not exactly sure when it is (I think it's still on) but I believe it is around late winter. Keep asking at the hobby shops, when the time is close, they should know.

A group of model builders used to put on a mainly ship model show at the Matitime Museum of the Atlantic every year. That was a while ago, so I don't know if this still happens or not, but it may be worth asking at the museum.

Well, this is my first ship model. One ship, one sherman, 7 1/48 aircraft...so, I'm not sure I fit into a category yet :)

Just building the ship for my wife's office...she's in the navy.
