Amodel kits

Is it just my lack of model-making skill or are Amodel's kits often awful?
I've made a Yak-15 and I'm in the process of trying to make a MiG-9, and I've had terrible problems with fit on both planes.
All wars should be fought at 1/72 scale. Currently working on (very slowly): Airfix 1/72 Hawker Hurricane Mk1 Amodel 1/72 MiG-9 Fargo PM Model 1/72 Hawker Sea Fury T-20 Airfix 1/72 WWI tank Mk1 Hasegawa 1/72 Armoured Car Daimler MkII

they are limited run, but if you want their great subjects, you gotta deal with their terrible fit. Cool [8D]

Amodel is getting better, slowly, but certainly.

Their 1/72 Yak-38 Forger was a killer and I ended up giving up on her, but their more recent stuff looks a bit better. I've been toying with buying one of their 1/144 C-123 Provider kits for about month or so; I saw one in the box at my LHS and it looks nicer and more cleanly molded than their earlier stuff and the decals also looked much nicer.

Give them time. Remember, MPM started as a small vac form operation and look at them now.

I've got their huge 1/72 Mil Mi-6 helicopter kit, and it is indeed one big box full of ugly, lumpy, flash-laden plastic.
But, I like the huge Mi-6 helo, and I got the usually 10,000 yen (about $87 USD) kit for 1,500 yen (about $13 USD), so I thought I'd give it a go!

Amodel kit’s or generally hard, especially if you never built any limited run kit before, but they’re not impossible. I built there Bf-109Z and it was tough. Every single part needed to be clean and refurb, none of parts fitted correctly or even close, the Plastic was extremely brittle. I even had to reshape the wings and the fuselage under hot water to get them straight. After all that I finally got started on the actual construction of the kitBlack Eye [B)]. There was a lot sanding (went through more then 1 sheet of sandpaper). As for gaps they were many. It questioned me if one tube Squadron putty will fill in all the gapsDead [xx(]?

Here are some pictures of her…

I did it in a winter camo scheme to show that it was used in Eastern Front.

I beat brains into complete submission with this kit and never built/started a kit after 6 months completing this one. Strange thing is once I started building again, I decide to undertake a Tamyia kit and gave up on it. Everything fitted perfect and it just made it really boring for me. Now I’m collecting up limited run kits to build instead the usual well-known brandsApprove [^].
