New work bench!!! YAA!
Posted by eizzle on Sunday, November 20, 2005 9:06 PM

Well, I finally got tired of my 2' by 4' desk that was cramped, pretty much useless, and didn't have nearly enough room! I got a couple cups (pots? who keeps track after 5 cups anyway?) of coffee in me, went to Lowes and got me some lumber, and started chopping away. What I came up with was a desk that is almost 6' feet long, a little over 2' deep and has a 10" deep shelf running the entire length! I have some space constraints, so that is the reason for keeping the depth the same, but its so huge compared to the other desk. I also added a 2' deep drawer underneath to keep sand paper and stuff that just lays around in. Its not completely done yet, It still needs some trim work to be presentable, but when I get it done I will try to post a pic or two... but if its anything like my models, its gonna take a few weeks... ok fine, monthsBig Smile [:D]

Just wanted to share my happiness for the day. Thanks for looking Gentleman.

Its not picture worthy yet. If I posted pics of it right now, my brother carpenters would kick me out of the union Big Smile [:D] Soon it should be though. I just have some bugs to work out...

You guys want pics, I got some pics.

Its still not completely done, it still needs trim and paint and all that stuff to make it look pretty, but you can get a general idea.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Bgrigg, you know me all to well Big Smile [:D] that things never going to get painted, except with drop of superglue, model paint, and the occasional stuck decal! I will probably finish it when I move, and thats gonna be when the old lady gets done with school, so thats gonna be awhile!

I just noticed one of my selections of fine Canadian whiskey sitting on my desk in one of the picks. I figured you might appreciate that Bgrigg, you silly canadian Big Smile [:D]

I use that Glad Press 'n Seal stuff on my bench and inside my spray booth. (You know, the kind that is sticky on one side...) I cover surfaces with it in case there is some accidental "spillage". Makes for an easy clean-up.

You can see it here:

Eizzle, Yukon Jack, eh? You were serious about drinking that 'cause of Swanny's upcoming centerfold.

Vinny, brilliant idea about the press and seal on the table top. I'll be ripping that idea off you right quick!

Thanks guys...but I can't take 100% credit. It was my wife who pointed this new "use" for me. The desk I'm using is her old office desk. (It will never really be mine...you know how it is) So she was a little "sensitive" when she saw what could happen. Works out great for both of us. Smile [:)]

I keep it around for special occasions. Night fall, sunrise, days that are numbered up to 31, days that end in "Y", ya know, the usual. No, I bought that about a month ago to take to a friends and he couldn't handle it, so I figured no point in letting GOOD! whiskey go to waste.
