Life is always a dilemma (especially modelling, for me). Yet I always say 'There are no problems, only solutions'

I rotate mine as the mood strikes me.
"You cannot put a rope around the neck of an idea" - Bobby Sands He was an Irish political prisoner who was the first to die from the hunger strike in 1981.

"Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most." This came from a key chain given to me by one of the students who rode my school bus many years ago. Unfortunately, it is becoming more true as time goes by.

"It's what we learn after we know it all that counts!" This is something that is also true, but many people don't seem to realize it.

I can say I definetly that I get a kick out of some of the signatures. There's a lot of "real life" experience there.

My signature is one of a bunch quotes I have come across, a lot from movies. I like it because it's ture. If you don't know and don't make the effort to know - you will not benefit. If you are going to be in it - be the best you can.

That's why I'm here - there's alot of people here with great advise, information, and experience.

Heylonghair - I liked yours -the first time I saw it. It's so true!

saw the first one at abe lincoln's birthplace, and just about died laughing.
and the second one was inspired when I saw a book that said(oohh..... redleg is gonna kill me for thisWink [;)]): "infantry is the queen of the battlefield, therefore armor enthusiasts are quick to point out that tanks are the king of the battlefield." and the M1 is the best tank in the world so....

Funny that this came up just after I decided on one.

Mine comes from the good old days of bachelorhood. I had 3 roommates and all of us came from the "geek" category in high school and were proud of it. You may have heard people talking about places having a "mystical field" or something like that? There was a "wierdnass field" that surrounded that apartment that made all kinds of odd things happen ( such as cars that wouldn't start actually responding to what should have been futile attempts at negotiation ). One day we were talking about the concept of "normalcy" and I just came up with the line.

I couldn't even find my way to "normal" with the Hubble!

Its a text on a spare wheel cover for a Land Rover. Its quite apt as I can't stand the way the average 18-25 year old misbehaves in traffic in hot-rodded VW golfs..

I've been driving Semi's for 10 years now. I've driven just about everything from a standard 18 wheeler to double-pups (28 footers also called "wiggle wagons"), to heavy haulers (3, 4, and 8 axle trailers). Presently I pull doubles, 45, 48, and 53 footers.

I consider myself a Professional and nothing gets my goat more than commericals like the one Ford is running here in the states that imply that buying one of their Pick-ups makes you a "Trucker". Most of those SOB's would quit if they had to pull a set of pups in a snowstorm.

Not that I'm venting.

Mine's a quote from an English Electric Lightning pilot on the introduction of the Tornado ADV into RAF service!

I feel it's quite apt now that Eurofighter is looking to replace Tornado ADV.

Cheers,

Mine is 100% true as well if you think about it. Also, I think it's pretty funny.

I can't claim that as my own. I read that in a trade magazine last year. It was a top ten list of Aircraft Technician axioms. It's one of those things that jumps out at you as you read it and makes you laugh out loud. Mainly because that statement is 100% correct. Anyone that has maintained aircraft for a living would agree.

Heres an example:

You've got 30 minutes left on your shift on a Friday afternoon before a nice long three day holiday weekend. Your aircraft is scheduled to depart in a few minutes as some coworkers are finishing up their work. Being the good guy you are you decide to adjust a loose engine cowl latch that bugs you everytime you see it. Now the latch still works fine but, it could be tighter so as not to vibrate and wear as much. So you grab a couple of tools and off you go. After opening the doors and securing them, you set out to give the old latch a couple of turns. You take out your trusty $40 Snap-on wrench and go to give the adjusting nut a turn. Except that the nut is siezed and you slip off of it as you strip it and drop the wrench down into the lower cowl. After you wipe away the blood from your knuckles and finish up with cursing, you set about retrieving your wrench with all sorts of other tools/potential fod. Twenty minutes later you hit pay dirt with a pair of mechanical fingers. Being the wise and experienced aircraft technician that you are, you decide to cut your losses and live to fight another day. So you unlock and close the cowl doors and with a couple of clicks from the latches you secure them shut. Except that what was once a pesky loose latch has now become a grounding broken latch. You and your very happy crew now spend the next several hours removing the cowl and replacing the broken parts.

And that my friends is why...If you screw with something long enough...it will break!

BTW...I'll leave it to yourselves to decide if that story was real or not Evil [}:)].

It used to be a joke between me and some of my friends, then when I was in Kuwait last year I was on a joint task force headed up by the Marine Corp. I saw the saying put into action, over and over and over...Big Smile [:D]
