The Idea behind it is for each shelf to be a sheet of glass, 2 inches
under each shelf is a sheet of mirror allowing you to see through the
glass onto the mirror to see the chassis. The Backing of it is a large
sheet of mirror allowing you to see the rear and sides of each model.
The glass and mirror shelves are now added.
Nearing completion. Heres a model sitting on it to give you an idea of how it will work.
Finished!
The front piece of Plexi-glass is hinged for easy access to the models.
Here it is with the hinged plexiglass cover opened.
The hinged Plexi-glass front is held closed at the bottom with vel-cro
thats connected to the display case with a sheet of brass.
And the finishing touch... A door stopper to keep the closet door from destroying my new display case.
The finish is Golden Oak with 6 coats or more of poly-urethane clear
sanding in-between. All the screws are brass to match the finish and
are counter-sunk into the wood to sit flush with the finish.
