If you use enamels, the following mix will give you a good rendition of the color:

(all are Model Master Enamels)

Skin Tone Warm Tint                       3 parts

Sand  FS33531                                   2 parts

Tan    FS30219                                   1 part

Something I would like to point out is that Desert Pink is not an official USAAF color.  The official color is Desert Sand (I don't remember the ANA color), a very light Tan color which weathered and faded to a pinkish color in a very short time which was referred to as Desert Pink (or more commonly known, Ti.... er female breast Pink).

Check out the pictures of my P-40K that I just posted in the Aircraft Forum.  The upperside is supposed to be Desert Pink, the same as on B-24s in that theater of operation.  I used Floquil US Sand enamel, which might be hard to come by now.  I don't know how accurate or exact the match is with true Desert Pink, but I like the color.

You might want to look into the Xtracolor enamel line.  They have a color called Desert Pink, although I think it's refering to a more modern color as opposed to WWII.  I have not seen the color personally, so can't vouch for how it looks.

Another option I considered was using Model Master FS 30219 (I believe it's a tan color), with some white and yellow mixed in to give it a pinkish hue.  This was a mix that someone recommended, and the results I saw on a B-24 looked nice.

I mainly paint with enamels, so have more info on them as opposed to acrylics.

Hope this helps,

Mark

 Hello,

I am building a B24 and the paint is listed as FS31575 Desert Pink. Does anyone know where I can obtain this or what paints now available I could mix to get this color?

Thanks,

IBuild1/48
