It is a work in progress so please be kind. My wife (Architect) is designing all the floor plans for the basement of our new place. I couldn't wait to unpack and get something of a shop set up until the plans are finished and I actually have some walls to enclose my little hideaway.
Some of the pics may be a little dark (using an older camera new one is still packed somewhere)
The best part about my shop is most of the kit was free.
Yes that's right friends and neighbours I said free. I picked up my 6' X 3' Hard Rock Maple Topped workbench and the chair in Toronto prior to them going into a dumpster. The second bench also was rescued from a dumpster toss along with seven of its cousins in Cambridge. The lighting was picked up similarly along the way.
Recently I my "conversion" spraybooth to the bench. I scrounged two fume extraction systems from a company that was doing some Fall cleaning. Each NEDERMAN unit apparently retail cost them $2500.00 my cost was a cup of Tim Horton's coffee and the pick up. The "booth" itself is (get this) an IKEA bedside table with the center drawer removed and a $3.00 heat duct cut into the back and hooked to the Nederman. Total time from start to finish about 5 hours give or take with pick up and return to home and a stop at the Home Depot. Thanks to bgrigg for his advice prior to the build. Yes Bill I have a spraybooth now! " src="/FSM/CS/emoticons/icon_smile_tongue.gif">
On the bench are some of my best finds at garage sales and auctions
Delta 16" variable speed scroll saw $50.00 new in the box at an auction " src="/FSM/CS/emoticons/icon_smile_big.gif">
Dremel 4" Table Saw $15.00 Garage Sale
Mattel Vac U Form machine $5.00 Garage Sale
Auto Etch Photo Etching Machine $30.00 Garage Sale " src="/FSM/CS/emoticons/icon_smile_evil.gif">
Dremel Lathe $25.00 eBay
Paasche Compressor Model 500 - $1.50 at a garage sale Brand New
So check around is my best advice you never know what you'll find. Just stay away from my hunting grounds of auctions and garage sales. Anything South of Antarctica is fair game, the rest of the area belongs to me. " src="/FSM/CS/emoticons/icon_smile_big.gif">
Enjoy the pics and please heed the sign at the start of the list while you visit my shop " src="/FSM/CS/emoticons/icon_smile_tongue.gif">
Cheers;
