couple of questions...
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 12:24 PM

I got a couple of questions for all of ya..

How or where do you usually display your models? And if you have to ship them somewhere, what do you do with them to hopefully ensure their safe arrival, all in one piece?

Bookshelf is where all my models are displayed.

I don't ship built models, but unbuilt ones are in a larger box with either foam bubbles to fill the empty space, or crunched up newspapers. If I had to ship built models, I'd encase them in a form fitting box with tissue paper, to provide a gentle layer of cussioning. That box would be in a bigger box with more foam bubbles or crushed newspapers, as per usual.

I have all my models in a glass cabinet, that keeps them save from dust and accidents.

I have never ship models. But if I transport models I use a large piece of styrofoam, cut it to fit exactly in a box, make holes to fit the landinggear in (I build aircraft) and then secure to model on the styrofoam with cocktail sticks. This way the model is totaly fixated on the foam.

Since I have been using this way of transporting, I've never had any transport damage.
