Decal Exchange
Posted by JoeRugby on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 10:02 PM

First...to the moderators and editors, this is not inteneded to take a swipe at your advertisers, it is an honest question...and request...

After jumping back into the hobby almost three years ago I have started to develop quite a collection of spare decals.  Point of fact is I will probably never use about 85% of them again. Some are good quality decals others are Censored [censored].

Never the less they could be just that last little bit some one is hunting for.  Case in point; I am building Yeager's P51D-5 and needed two black sixes.  I purchased the Superscale sheet on that on-line auction, the whole sheet less two, will go into the spares box within the next 90 days and probably never be used.

Would it be possible to set up a decal exchange here in these Forums?  I have been to other Forums and find this one the most user friendly and most visited/frequented.  It's just a thought but one that I think could help alot of us out...

I think its a very good idea, you certainly have my support. I'm not sure what the management would think though. I think if they set aside a posting area where folks could make requests for certain markings/decals, then forum members could "run" the decal bank independently of FSM.

Maybe we should have a poll to see if folks like the idea............

I'm all for it. I have three cigar boxes full of unwanted decals. Likewise, there are decals I need that I would probably never buy a whole sheet for.

I would go for that as well, but, if it doesn't pan out, you could always try selling them cheap on ebay, or maybe listing them on here or another site and just have people pay for shipping if you aren't looking to make any money. Just a thought. I have several sheets that I won't be using as well, but I might be able to use part of them at one time or another???

I am not really lloking for this to be a money maker...that would certainly frost some of the advertisers here...I like the idea of a set aside area, exchange for parts or decal swap, work out who picks up postage etc.  also like the idea of a poll, can we do theat here in the forums?
