Price increases?
Posted by Glamdring on Thursday, March 9, 2006 7:52 PM

I Just got this in the email today from one of the online vendors I use:

I just received word that there will be price increases on the following manufacturers to take effect on March 20th.

DML- The DML price increase will be significant!
Hasegawa
Concord Publications
Gunze

Has anyone else heard of this?  Specifically, how much the prices are supposed to go up?  IMHO Hasegawa and DML are already a bit expensive (though they are quite intricate), and any further increase is certainly going to cut back on my purchases from those companies.....

Been waiting on it for at least 3 months - you looked at the price of a gallon of gas lately - styrene comes from the same source so a price increase was inevitable.

Guess I better get those couple of DML kits now. Got o admit though, they are easier to store for a while than getting gas while it is cheaper.

Fortunately my modest stash will keep me busy for many years. It was inevitable that Dragon and others would go up. The price of oil and the increase in am goods within the kits all contribute to a price increase.

It's all a conspiricy.  Granted model makers will have to increase prices if there raw materiels go up and of course inreased shipping costs.  What I am talking about is the oil companies.  They made a killing over Katrina.  I remember seeing in the paper how their profits went up and someone told me that it really was only a few percentage points.  Well a couple of percent when you are talking in the billions is a pretty sum of money.  I also saw had some of the Oil companies said that they had to look after their stockholders.  That is good of them.  Who really cares about the CUSTOMERS.  I am glad that I live in the United States but I really don't believe that the "free economy" is all that free.
