Went to the Scalefest/Region 6 Convention this past weekend. We left Norman Oklahoma at 7am Friday and got to the Squadron Open House at around 10. Of course, I spent waaaaay too much money there, but did some really good deals( Revell of Germany 1/72 Ju-290 for 10 bucks). After eating lunch at Squadron, we went to the Cavaunaugh Flight Museum. My buddy David had reserved a flight in a Stearman, but there were ploblems with the prop. Instead, he took a flight in and AT-6 Texan. I shot video of it.
However, after the Texan took off, I was fortunate enough to video a P-51D and a P-40N start up and taxi out to the runway. The next one was an OV-1 Mohawk firing up and taxiing out. Personnally, that would have been worth the trip just to see those warbirds.
After all the fun, we finally got to the motel and got checked in and met up with the rest of the club(Saturn, Rick, and John). Saturday we got into the contest, hit the vendor room, and the Frito chili pies with jalapenos. Unfortunatly, I didn't have anything competitive, but Dave and Rick cleaned up and got some awards.
Sunday, we all went back to Squadron, and blew some more cash. After that, we were invited to a get together with the NTC crew, which was a very enjoyable experience.
