model shops in orlando

I'm on vacation in the Orlando area. Anyone know of good hobby shops in this area?

Name and address would be helpful.

Thanks

For plastic...no. They are lacking to put it nicely.

Heres a list anyway and you can make this epiphany yourself.

Of the shops listed below, Colonial Photo is your best bet and probobly has the best selection of kits, paint and diorama stuff. Lots of great train stuff and the other half of the store is a photo store. Definately worth a trip. For books, head further east on SR50 (Colonial) to Sci Fi city. They carry most of the Osprey titles and the rest of the store is a gaming wonderland.

If you don't mind a day trip there are two shops on the coast (about an hour from Orlando each) In West Melbourne there is Northside Hobbies on Aurora Road. This is kit heaven with older kits, oop kits, and new stuff. The guy has forgotten more than I'll ever know about the hobby and can tell you the pedigree of just about every manufacturer and their kits. The other is Spare Time Hobbies in Cocoa on US1. Great litle store. Lots of kits and lots of R/C. worth a trip if your in the mood to shop. Also Ray is the man to see for CAM decals.

Enjoy your vacation.  :)

Renarts, whatever happened to that one place Enterprise 1701?  Are they still around, changed names, or out of business?  That was a pretty cool place.  :)

David,

Enterprise 1701 moved and changed their name to Sci Fi City. They moved into a new store and increased there floor space to 10,000 sq ft. Frank Dowler (the original owner) sold it to a consortium and now runs a radio show called the Sci Fi Zone on am radio WDBO 580 latenights on Saturday and on the web.

It has gone through some big changes but is still the gaming mecca in the south east deapite losing there largest market (the navy base closed) Still lots of vinyl garage kits and fan art. Great selection of books and other stuff. No more plastic models though. New owners just aren't interested in that aspect any more. A few sci fi kits are gfathering dust on the shelves but thats it.

If you want to see the new digs....http://www.sci-fi-city.com/storephotos.htm

Oh wow!!  That looks awesome!

I'm glad I don't live down there anymore... I would end up spending way too much time and money there.  Laugh [(-D]

I definitely need to stop in there if / when I ever make it down there again.
