Afternoons and late at night are my only free time and I find after a day of sitting at my desk, arriving home and sitting on a stool at my work bench is about the last thing I want to do, even if I have a model I'm dying to build. But half an hour on the couch playing Grand Theft Auto Vice City Evil [}:)] is usually exactly what I need. This half hour to relax my body and clear my mind keeps me going for the rest of the evening. In a video game making a mistak is simply a laugh but making a serious mistake on a model can be very upsetting. I find beginning work on a model with a clear head and rested mind makes for a happier modeler and better modeling results.

Rise of Nations - I read about it over a year ago and have been patiently waiting for this game to come out. The game has been getting a lot of attention lately and so far it looks great!

Here's the link to the developer's website:

Ahh, i to am into PC Games. mostly online multiplayer ones. My favorite at this point in time is Battlefield 1942, altho it lacks the tactics, realisim and 'war' like feeling. its still a great game tho. The expansion is awsome, with the addition of bayonets, new tanks and the italian theatre. i have also played Neverwinter nights as well, found it great. this goes along side my modeling hobby. i also enjoy fishing, hanging with friends etc, so its not like i am some 'monster' who has been inside his whole entire life only seeing the day of light when i have to go to skool...

Anyways, whats this Rise of Nations business ? Haven't heard of it.

I'm confused - was someone here saying bad things about people playing video games? Unless someone has, it's a bit unfair to people here to think that any of us would make judgement calls or think any differently of anyone because of age, nationalities, hobbies, likes/dislikes, etc.

If this was meant as humor - then forgive me - I haven't been feeling well the past couple of days and I have very little patience at the moment. The people of this community have been great (except for one jonesy character) and I would take it personally if anyone says differently.

Anyways...

I LOVE Video Games!!! Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

No matter how much I try to stay away, I keep going back. My subscription to PC Gamer doesn't help. As soon as my interest level drops, a new issue appears in the mailbox and I find there is always something new to get into. Wink [;)]

I've been playing Hearts of Iron - a WWII grand strategy game. It's is really awesome!! Yes it has some flaws still, but with a bit more work, I think it will be a great game (imho it already is). If you're interested, but haven't played it yet, I would recommend waiting for the 1.04 patch which should be the best yet. Also, keep an eye out for the bolted mods, they're fantastic!!

I've also played the Close Combat series - all of them except for the last one - the Normandy version. Europa Universalis, Cossaks and more. Besides military type games, I've also played NWN (the upcoming expansion looks promising - Shadows of Undrentide), Baldur's Gate series, Command & Conquer (the upcoming Generals looks good), Age of Empires series, and so many more. It's sad to think of all the money...Sad [:(]. Anyways - also done the MMPORG's - Asheron's Call I & II, Earth & Beyond and Dark Age of Camelot. However, I'm done with MMPORG's - they were fun, but in the end not really worth the time put into them.

I'm still debating about Battlefield 1942 and I'm keeping my eyes on Rise of Nations which is due out April 15.

Whew...probably a lot more than most you wanted to know, but this is one of my favorite hobbies!!! Cool [8D]

World War II Online baby.

Ohhh yeah. Nothing like leading 8 buddies in bounding overwatch, in formation, assaulting an enemy position while pouring suppressive fire into it, surrounded by friendly tanks shelling a town, knowing that everything is being crewed by a person.

Go ahead, ask me more!

I like to do both myself. I love to build german armor and play PC games like East Front, West Front, Steel Panthers I-III, Panzer General and Sudden Strike(my most favorite). They both help me releave stress from a hectic job as a helicopter mechanic for a civilian contractor( go figure, I like armor right?). So when I'm not building or playing games(usually when I working out on the road), I spend most of my free time with my family. They do go first, then the hobbies. Chris.

I agree. I use Combat Flight Simulator and IL-2 Sturmovik quite extensively, as well as modeling, reading and making ammunition for target shooting. I am not averse to the use of the term "nerd", but these are things I like to do and I make no apologies.

Cader,

Gaming and modeling are great hobbies. I do gaming when I get off work to releave stress, and modeling to releave my smoking habbit. So in a sense they go hand and hand. ESP when you have the medal of honor allied assault and the expansion pack.

And finally, lay off the video games. I'm 16, and i game and model. The two are both legitimate hobbies, so don't be hypcritical about one or the other. I also play football, hockey, and I have a girlfriend, so please don't think I'm a nerd and all I do is sit around and build models and play PS2.
