I read a post on odds and ends were two members met up and had dinner. I think that would be awesome if members could arrange and schedule meetings/socials for an evening at a favorite restaurant. Of course, we'd have to be within range, so to speak. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd be willing to drive 1 1/2 hr. or so to meet.

I'm in the Baton Rouge local......would anyone be interested? I know there are a few of you around here. Your thoughts??.....

Good idea, but I'm at least 2 hours away from even catching a glimpse of another FSM member. I did meet up with hwells at a Norman OK IPMS meeting the other day. Had a great time, but just too long of a drive to make on a regular basis. Especially with gas going up.

As one of the members alluded to in the original post, I can safely state that meeting other members is well worth the effort. So far, I've managed to meet only one other FSM member (razordws), but will always be up to the attempt!

So long folks!

Nice Idea!  I know at least one other member within my range.  Hi buff, we're still supposed to meet some day at Hobby Junction Express.  If anyone else is interested, maybe we could be more.  I would really like to meet Zokissima who live in Ontario.

I've met 2 member from my 'local' area at an IPMS regional show. That's a great incentive to get people to show and perhaps take a little longer car ride.

Well, my suggestion would be that you check out the Frappr Map that philp started for FSM members and see who is near you.  http://www.frappr.com/finescalemodeler

I'd like to meet other modelers too, but I just don't know any nearby.

Having met espins1 in Reno on one of my trips there. It was great to finally put a face to the name.  I'm in Stockton & there's very few FSMers in my area but, there is a couple within 45 minutes of me who I'd like to meet sometime.  It's worth the effort if one can arrange a meeting.

Haha, yeah I wouldn't mind getting to meet you or buff. I drive up to Quebec once a month anyways, so maybe one of these days we can arrange something Smile [:)]

I met Anthony14, and he's a very nice young guy. I haven't been around much in town to work with him or even e-mail, but it was definitely nice to meet someone, and will continue to work at it.

A nice place to meet at would be Hobby Junction Express.  It's right next to the P.E. Trudeau international airport.  They have plenty of model and aftermarket stuff there.  The personel is friendly and there is a lot of people discussing about train and models.  Since I can go there about anytime, tell me whenever you want to go and we'll meet.  Could be this week, next month or next year, doesn't matter.

Hmmmm don't know where Rt. 81 is. I am right at Rt. 100 and 73 in Boyertown. I think Harrisburg is a long drive from here.  I am about 45mins from Reading PA right down Rt. 422 East.

Let me know

Yeap!  It's a lot smaller than Windsor ON but it's there.  Their economy is based on wood transformation and paper production.

You're about 12 hours away from Montreal, so it may be difficult to meet.

12 hours!!!!!!!! From Montreal!!!!!!!!!! By foot, mabye, but by car, it's more like 4. I know, because I did that a couple years ago when my family was vacationing in Atlantic Canada, and we passed through Quebec.Must be 12 hours in traffic jams.

Well, a quick look at mapquest showed 9 hours and 40 minutes for a distance of 557 miles.  So maybe 12 hours was a little exagerated but you would have to maintain a average speed of 139 miles per hour (224 km/h) to make it in 4 hours!  Do you live in Windsor Ontario near the US borders next to Detroit?
