If you can get a copy of FSM magazine, you can get the info that you are looking for.  If not, let me know and I'll post up hobby shops near by those cities.

i have seen the mag and went to HR several times the last month. nothing useful. if its possible, a store that has online catalog

What I have done in the past to find an out of state store is to look at www.tamiyausa.com They have a dealer listing with symbols to tell you what they carry from Tamiya. It worked out pretty well for me, and most have driving directions linked on the site.

I don't know about DC itself, but in the nearby suburbs in Rockville, MD, I know Hobby Works is pretty good.  It's located at 12274-G Rockville Pike (Route 355).
