Great Models has yet to let me down.
Posted by mikepowers on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 7:55 AM

I'm posting this because I have seen posts in the past about some of the problems in dealing with Great Models. This has to be the 5th or 6th time in dealing with them and I really don't see a problem at all.

They have the best prices on the web, (not including sale prices which are even better) the largest inventory I have seen anywhere and the service is just amazing. I called the next day to add something to my order and they had shipped it out already. This could be good or bad. Bad for me because I wanted something else. And over a certain amount, the shipping is free. Maybe I have been lucky, I don't know, but I have to give credit where it is due.

For those who have had problems, all I can say is this.

1. Call the order in over the phone.

2. Verify the kit or part is in stock along with the price.

3. Get the reps name for any problems you might have.

4. Write down the order number.

Thats it.

Happy modeling.

Mike

The only real issue I've ever had with them is that it took several months to get the Waldron Punch and Die set.  All the rest of my orders from them have been great, delivered quickly and their customer service was fantastic when I had to add something to an order before it shipped.

I guess the Waldron set was out of stock?

Most likely.

I'm sure the more I use them the bigger the chance of getting screwed.

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

It was listed as "Special Order" and was during the time that Waldron was in the process of getting out of the business, so it was all reasonable in the scheme of things.  I've ordered a bunch of stuff from Great Models in the past and they've always been great.  Smile [:)]

I've ordered from GM for years, using their online/website interface only, and have never had a problem with them, either from an order completion standpoint or delivery. I don't use them for "special" orders if I can get it somewhere else because they only periodically place orders for those types of items and there's no telling how close/far you are to the next order cycle when you put yours in. Lucky? Maybe...but for what I use them for, they've been very very consistent and reliable. My 2 cents [2c]

i got an order from them about 10-12 days ago it was my 8-9th in about 3 yrs

i love them too

although i perfectly understand when and why people dislike dealing with a company when they get mistakes and other wrongs done to them

I too am extremely satisfied with GM. IMHO, the key to satisfaction with GM (or any other online store) is reading and understanding the store, payment, and shipping policies posted on their website. In 4 years, I've had more than 50 shipments (over 200 individual items) from them with only one, extremely minor, error. Throughout these 4 years, I've called in numerous additions to orders and deletions from orders without incident. I received my most recent order two day ago and currently have one item on "pre-order", one item on "back-order", and about 10 items I'm looking at for future purchase. As long as they keep meeting my needs, I'll keep using GM!
