Cool, the best thing I have learned since being a member here...
Stock up on all the automotive models and someday I could make $billions$. Propeller [8-]

Actually I've learned quiet a bit here. Wink [;)]

Just to try and keep it simple:
  • I no longer feel bad being in the cosmetics department.
  • I'm not the only 6'-3" 47 year old to dig through the model shelf at Wal*Mart (step aside kiddy, I seen it first).
  • When I ask for a gift at Christmas time that I used to ask for when I was a kid, I now know there are others like me.
  • There's a lot of really nice people here from all across the globe willing to share and help others.
  • It doesn't matter whether you are rich or poor, a janitor or engineer: a modelor is a modelor.
  • I've learned with help here to make educated decisions on items such as airbrushes.
  • I have learned to try new techniques and products that I have only read about or seen online.
  • Not meaning to end the list short, but I did say I was going to try and keep it simple, oh well...

But I think the biggest thing I have learned from being a member here: is to follow through with my ideas and plans of opening a small Mom & Pop hobby shop.

I want to thank all the kind folks here for sharing, caring, and having the patience to help others. Also big thanks to FSM for having such a place for us. Make a Toast [#toast]

I am one of those people that get into something and jump in head first and thats all I can think of  for a while. What ever I'm into consumes me. Then after a while I'm done with it. I can't have a hobby that last. I gotten int RC car and off road truck racing. That was fun but starting getting turned off because the difference between first and second for me was an upgrade of batteries....$400.00. I already had about $500.00 in my car not to mention tires that have to be change often. I have a house, family, with kids. So I couldn't bring myself to put anymore into it. I fly RC planes but not as often as when I first got them. I been building models off and on for about 42 years. Build alittle here and there. I can't really stick to any one thing. But since I joined the forum I've seem to stick with building my models. Not only aircraft but I have also branched off to the dark side ( armor ) and now am getting ready to order my first ship model. I don't think that would have been possible with out this forum. I think what I've mostly learned from the forums is that there is a lot of very good and interesting people in my hobby that I would not have met and enjoyed without it. I really have someone to share my hobby with now.

Thank you

In a word?  Everything.  Airbrushing, seam cleanup, weathering, decalling, the whole bit.  It's also given me the motivation to attempt some of my larger projects.  If I didn't have anyone to show them off to, many of my complicated scratchbuilds and kitbashes wouldn't have happened.  Thanks, guys!  Make a Toast [#toast]

Being a member has helped me refine these skills by making me aware of pitfalls or better techniques.  I also feel less alone in this hobby than I did.  Between all my friends and coworkers, I believe less than one builds models and one flies R/C planes.  This forum is a resource filled with incalculable years of real-world experience, piped straight to my workspace, and delivered by some of the finest people on the InterWeb....except for Jon, his incessant joking is downright irritating.Big Smile [:D]  Jon, you know how I feel about your humor.

Lots of little things that enhance my methods and techniques—there's always something to learn, even if you've seen it before. But the forum really helped me with, of all things, airbrushing. Airbrushing is more art than science, and I learned to stop working at it like a scientist. (Didn't help that I was a scientist in the coatings industry!)

And I've rediscovered a little faith in humanity, thanks muchly to the folks here. Thanks!
