resin parts

Now that is about the same as the Ford vs. Chevy It will be interesting to see what is said tho.
Like you, I am new to resin sets & have noticed  different companies make sets for the same kits & it is a difficult descision...

DURR, I'm sure many won't agree with me, but my first resin set was a True Details cockpit for my P-38J. I thought the detail was pretty good. Now here's the reason I think True Details is good for a rookie... It gives you patience with resin parts. I had to sand a lot to get my stuff to fit decently. but, I'm ok with that. It wasn't really hard sanding, just repetative stuff. It showed me patience really goes a long way with resin.

Now, my Verlindin stuff hardly needs any sanding so far. It's real easy to get off the pour stubs too! Good luck, DURR!

best detail = Aires.

Easiest fit= definitely not Aires.

RadMax, which P-38J kit did you build?

Ed, it's the Hasegawa kit. I got it for Christmas and I found the detail set at my IPMS competition for cheap. I don't know how it'd fit in the monogram kit...

Bingo! I am using Aires cockpit and nothing really fits lol, but the detail is great.

I also like Legond, so far everything I have used from them was perfect.

I have the Legend Cockpit for my R/M 1/48 F4J which I have still to start on Nice detail & the Black Box Cockpit for my Trumpy 1/48 RA-5C very nice detail

Aries and Black box- The two most problematic fitting resin out there.  CMK isn't so bad. The detail isn't quite the same as aries and BB, but the stuff fits better. True Details, can't complain about them at all. Used three sets. P-51, F4F-4 and F4U-1D sets just dropped in. Perfect! They add greatly to the kit and the prices can't be beat. Recomend them as a first use anytime.

Ed, Your in for a world of hurt with that RA-5C and a BB pit.

That's probably because that kit ends up in the trash, which from my experience with it, is exactly where it belongs.

Well, a kit is only as good as the modeler who builds it. I've seen some dog of a kit be built up very nicely

I see it all the time here in the forums. and there's been several of the 1/48 Mono P-38s built up too.
