I have bought many times from them, and never had a problem. Part replacement can take some time, but other than that, I would rate them the best site I have delt with, along with squadron.

I placed an order with them on a Sunday night, it shipped on the Tuesday, and was in my hands 8 days later, on the next Wednesday.  It was in stock, so that made it a lot quicker, and the shipping was about $2.00.  The item was an airbrush, btw.

I've ordered from them a few times, and I have an order now in shipping. I went for the surface shipping, so it will be another few weeks to get here to the US. Since its shipping from HK to the US, postage can quickely eat up the difference in price. That's why I try to save up my orders to get multiple kits at once. In regards to shipping, note that they are charging shipping by the kilogram from their shipping agents, so as soon as you go over each Kg, you get hit with additional shipping. So if you add another kit and still fit under the next Kg limit, there is no increase in shipping cost. They tell you how much more weight you can fit in your shopping cart.

I did have an order that was never recieved, it was post office error. I emailed them and they notified me that they will ship again. Any other issues with discounts and such were also promptly answered by email.

They also send out monthly emails newsletters with a coupon code. The last one I got was a 10% off for over $100 ( LUCKYOCT). If you are ordering that much anyway, hope you can use it.

I found a kit that I want on there that the cost of the kit plus shipping is less than the kit cost on Squadron.

Hey Jon,

Generally, I've found the service pretty good. I've ordered from them 6 (oops, as of last night, make that 7) times, and the only issue that I've had was an item that wasn't in stock at the time and took 2 months to arrive.

On placing the order, it may take them several days to process (I guess it depends on the volume of orders at the time) and then it's in the hands of the international mail system. Shipping here to Aus, it usually takes about 7 days if shipping by air mail. (Surface mail seems to be more expensive and takes considerably longer - go figure).  I'll add that on one occasion I received the shipping notice on a Monday and had the item in my hand on the Wednesday , though I'd expect that that was an exceptional case.

At each stage of the order process, ie. confirmation of order, receipt of payment, dispatch, you will receive an email confirmation, so you usually know what's going on with your order.

From what I understand, if it becomes necessary for them to split an order, you won't get hit up for additional shipping charges - they will carry the cost of additional shipping.

One thing you DO need to take notice of is their stock status flags. If it says "In Stock" it means they have stock on hand. If it says "available" it means that they don't have stock of that item on hand but they can get it from their supplier

Cheers.

BTW: It looks like the order I placed last night has been processed, so I should see it in about a week.

Of course they make money on shipping, they're doing business.  You can see what you gonna pay before checkout on their website, which is really good to make your choice.  And at the end, you can still chose to buy from them or not.  I don't care they make money on the price of the kit or on the shipping, what's important is the price I pay for it.  If I can have a good deal, I'll buy.  If the price is not much different than what my LHS ask me, I'll encourage my LHS.

A not fair business practice would be to hide the price of the shipping until checkout.  But I think they are pretty transparent.

Agreed.

I don't find there shipping so bad, almost the same as GM. The only thing that I care about is that I pay less than other websites or my lhs. If theres a 10-15 $$ difference, I'll go to the lhs, but anything more, it's the net. I got a resin set off them for 30 bucks total, here they wanted 160, I'd call that a deal lol. Now that they have added free airmail shipping on almost all the pe and resin, it makes it even better, as well as no min. amount purchase.

They aren't "really" making any money of off the shipping, it's a very long distance.

They do make money off of shipping and handling.  Everywhere you pay shipping and handling makes money off of it.  Anytime you have something sent to you, the vendor's automated shipping or a guy has to get your merchandise package and ship it.  You pay for this and then some, it's not a big percentage but it's there.  Companies hate to lose money, so they tend to take a little extra to cover themselves incase shipping prices go up.  When they don't go up, they keep the money.

I know what you're talking about.  The M274 kits are really cheap, like $3 cheap, but shipping is $8.69 or something ridiculous.  The same kit elsewhere might be $7 and $3.50 to ship in the same amount of time.  I guess that's the InterWeb shopping for ya... I prefer websites/catalogs to have a graduated system of shipping fees:  For $X to $Y shipping = Z, $A to $B = $C.

just was on their site today and i know many times you can get a good deal but not always

they show a price

but then they make money on the shipping.

example

i have both the models at home so i weigh them

the wildcat and the hellcat by academy 1/72nd scale

the hellcat is a slightly heavier model by a few grams the boxes are the same size so  the hellcat s/b more expensive to ship right!

their price is 1.75 usd for wildcat plus almost 6 usd to ship

their price is  3.15 usd for hellcat  plus only 3 usd to ship

i have found that also on some of their 1/35 scale tank models

if you want at tank that is in the 14-18 usd range vs a tank in the 22-28 usd range the shipping is more for the cheaper

it does not seam to be a fair business practice
