Extreme Static!!!
Posted by ZzZGuy on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 11:13 PM

OK, i have a 1/48 corsair with 80% of it glued togeather, i primed the the parts on the parts tree and glued it all togeather, I use latex gloves due to a lot of handeling where it's primed.

All of this is pritty irrelvent except maby its not (the corsair could be possessed).

The problem is that i have EXTREME static on this kit. I'm talking about the glue being SUCKED out of the needle (i use model master liquid cement with the metal needle tip). This is not from air bubbles or something like this, i squized hard in several positions to try and get this to happen but no squirting, i then had a blob of liquid glue on the tip and moved it closer to the model untill it was sucked off (mind out of gutter please) and blasted the model like a bomb going off. It's powerfull enough to draw it to the side, but not quite verticle. There is also a excessive amount of dust on it now along with lots of glue spatter....

My best guess is it's the latex gloves so i'll stop wearing them and i'll just have to wash off the model when i'm done glueing.

My suggestion would be to get some wash for your kit, I think its called Polly S. It is supposed to remove all static and make the model dust free with just a good wipe down.

It should remove the static and prevent future static build up. I found it works pretty good. Having a cat and a couple guniea pigs in my room makes for a hairy situation!
