A tip of the hat to Megahobby
Posted by mfsob on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 9:29 AM

I was in search of an out of production kit and saw it listed on the www.megahobby.com website. Having been burned before by the "on the website but not on our shelves" problem, I called their phone number. It was immediately answered. By a human. Who spoke English as their first language. This person then went back to physically check the stock on hand, and confirmed that they had several of that kit. I wasted no time in placing an order through their website.

The kit arrived in six days (this included a weekend), was well packed and was exactly as advertised. The website clearly displayed the exact shipping charges before I placed the order. Was this the cheapest price I could have gotten this kit for? Probably not, but service counts for a lot with me. And Megahobby delivers on that score.

Mfsob,

That is good news for you and good info for us as well. Knowing certain companies strive to have good CS helps alot as well as good packaging and timely deliveries.

Ditto on the Megahobby experience.  Was also impressed with Burbank's House of Hobbies.  VERY quick delivery, especially considering they're in California and I'm in Indiana...

my gosh!

megahobby has been totaly remade!  It looks nice, but I found it harder to find things, and they do not carry heller, or airfix kits anymore!  Thats too bad.  I hope this does not change my megahobby experience too much.Sigh [sigh]

megahobbies looks excellent, except for one little thing. their search feature isnt all that great.

I wish they would divide their result into specifics like squadron does.

For example, it is pretty difficult to get ONLY tamiya armor kits. Normally, they have other Tamiya models thrown in there, and they sometimes exclude the real armor kits if you were to just type "tamiya armor" in there. I have to go try "tamiya 1/35"
