Posted by kaleu on Saturday, February 17, 2007 11:08 AM
For anyone who is interested, the IPMS Indy chapter will be having our annual show on March 10th. At this time we have 104 vendor tables sold and confirmed to be at the show.  Some of the vendors include: Formations Models, CRM Hobbies, M & M models, Spruebrothers and Michigan Discount Models. For more information about the show go to www.ipmsroscoeturner.org  and click on 2007 Contest Page.

Is Raymond St. one way?  I was trying to figure the best route from Muncie that avoids interstates.  Mom hates them.  I was thinking 52 to Post to Raymond but the directions say 52 to Franklin.  I'm hoping Mom will take me, but the Rock show is the weekend before.

Raymond is a two way street.  Taking Post Rd. to Raymond will put you in visual contact with the school.  You won't be able to miss it as the place is huge for an elementary school.  We will be placing signs to point the way to the show.  HTH

Thanks.  I hope to make it.  It'd be my first show.

I went last year and really enjoyed it, but it's looking pretty unlikey that I'll hit it this year.  I may decide to go at the last minute, it'll depend on how I'm feeling by then.  I've been rather severely under the weather (read: in the hospital) lately and my stamina has been slow to recover.  And the show is at least a 3 hour drive.

I'm already down $200 in the hole due to advance orders from Formations and CRM Hobbies.  For anybody who wants to judge, we are paying for lunch on saturday. It will be something along the lines of Blimpies, Subway or Quizno's.  If you do feel better by the show date, come on down as I think the vendor room alone will be worth the trip.

I went to this show last year. Such a long drive from Ft. Knox. I miss being in Massachusetts where I had a half dozen shows within an hour drive or less.

The thing that will keep me from entering this year is the long drive home after the show is over. If I do go, I will leave before the show's over.

Last year my motivation for going was to see an old college fraternity brother that I had not seen since 1984. He has settled in Indy and we went to dinner after the show. He was the one who got me into ROTC in 1982 and was responsible for my 20+ year military career.

Hey, do you guys have as many murders in your town as are depicted in that CBS show "Close to Home"? Seems like they kill 20+ people a year in that series!

I might go but it depends on whether I get a new job and go overseas. I got a friend who lives in Indy so that would be another reason for me to go

If you have any russian models (miltary only), I am sponsoring an award for best russian aircraft and best russian armor.  It's the first this year for this award and I am hoping to make it a yearly award.

It's sad to say, but unfortunately we have more than 20 murders a year.  I have heard about that show, but haven't had a chance to watch it.  I'll have to give a look sometime.

Contest Update:  We have now sold out all 120 vendor tables and we are now looking into adding more tables to a hallway near the contest area.  My wallet is begging for mercy but I can't wait to get into the vendors room next week.

Sheesh, that's a lotta vendors.  I always try to have a fairly short "looking for" list before I go to one of these shows to keep me from completely depleting my modeling money.  I'm gonna have to figure one out if I do come down.  I pretty much filled out that list last year.

120 vendors.  I wonder how much I'll end up getting if I go.  My birthday falls 2 1/2 weeks after the show and I might could wrangle it coming early.

Well, the outlook looks slighty better now.  I'm starting to get a handle (mentally) on some of my medical issues and if I can just get a few good night sleep going I can actaully risk making the drive.  As it stands, I can hardly make it half way across town without faling asleep at every stoplight.

120 vendor tables!! Holy cow! I do good to get 8 or 9 different vendors to attend our contest, but 120 that is simply staggering!  Whats the secret to that success story??

Part of our success can be attributed to how long we have been doing this show (over 10 years).  We also have some very dedicated people in the club who want to put on a good show every year.  We also contact vendors 3-5 months in advance of the show date to remind them of the upcoming show.  A good idea is to schedule your show either in the spring or fall and try to stay away from holding it too close to holidays or school vacations.  Also, try to make certain the date isn't too close to other shows in your area.   HTH

I'm pretty much out of it for coming. Sorry.  My mom got hit when an idiot crossed center in the broad daylight, totaled her car and broke her hand and ankle.  Every year something happens and I can't go.  I've been trying to make it for the last 7 years I think.  I'll wish you guys luck though.
