I'll give it a shot!
Posted by Wulf on Thursday, April 19, 2007 5:59 PM

Saturday is the Cajun Modelfest and contest in Baton Rouge. I'm going to give it a shot and enter a few things this year. It will be my first so I'm not expecting anything. I figured if I'm going anyway, I'll enter. The contest rules/judging are governed by IPMS so I'm sure it will be tough with good competition. After racking the 'ole brain, these are the builds I feel are my best in all catagories. However, they are FAR from perfect. Any last minute crit or advice would be appreciated.

By the looks of it, You'll put up some competition. Personally, I like the B-25 and FW190 best. Good Luck.

1/35 Tamiya M26 Pershing-0%

1/144 Minicraft P-38J Lightning-50%

Numerous 1/35 scale figures in various stages if completion.

Hope I'm not to late but enter the contst becuase you are proud or excited about the work you've done, ribbons and placues are nice but the model is what you tell the story about.besides they sit on your shelf not the judges.Good luck and very nice work, happy modelling

Wulf,

From the look of the work you'll be presenting, you won't really need it - but good luck!!

Very good and clean builds. From the pictures, I don't see any issues on the basics so you would surely make the first cut, and be a "contendah" if I were judging. Thing is, in most contests, you have to deal with what else is on the table in your category rather than strictly on the quality of your build.

Good luck and let us know how you did.

And regardless of anytjing else, have a great time and don't be afraid of approaching other modelers. We love talking about our stuff in person even more than we do online.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Good luck Andy.  I have to say, if I had something in the same class as your B-25.... I woudln't be too happy when I saw you put that on the judging tables.Wink [;)]

Only advice I have is your going to show your models and promote the hobby by entering. They look good and well done Andy.

Go have a good time admiring everyone elses work, and let them admire the fact you brought something for them to admire too. That's what it's all about. Those who say "I won't enter cause I'm not good enough" or "I don't believe in competition" are just excuses to not promote the hobby. I enter two or three every show I go to. That has been for several years and have only ONCE taken home a ribbon. I don't care, neither should you IMHOThumbs Up [tup]SoapBox [soapbox]

Take this plastic and model it!

I like them all and believe you'll win something. You may surprise yourself and bring a handful home. Good luck.
