What was the kit you're trying to order? Haven't heard any news about Hasegawa being sold off??? They're still releasing new kits out nearly every month. Now I heard yesterday that Revell/Monogram has been sold and taken over by another outfit but they still plan on maintaining production. Maybe your hobby shop is having problems with their distributor? Good luck on your order.

Don't know where the proprietor of that store got that false information from, as Hasegawa has not been "sold," and is in fact doing just fine. As mentioned, perhaps there is a problem with the local distributor your store uses.

You might want to check to see if the kit is currently out of production.  Over the last 10 years or so, Hasagawa has shown a proclivity for introducing a model, producing it for a year or so, then dropping it from the production line.  Only have it to reappear 6 to 8 months later, in a new box w/ a new set of decals and new instructions (the painting/decaling guide is changed) and a new price which is 3 to 10 bucks higher than the previous issue of the kit.  But nothing else in the kit has changed.

Is this the kit in question?

If so, I just checked the Hasegawa website, and it's currently available, retailing for 700 yen (USD $5.83) here in Japan. I see HLJ carries them (http://www.hlj.com/product/HSGA7), although it's backordered at the moment. HLJ does show four other 1/72 Hasegawa Kates that are OOP, though.

Hope that helps!

I have been hovering this site for about three weeks now and this is my first comment.

internet hobbies here in the U.S. has them http://www.internethobbies.com/

just last week they were on clearance for about 5 usd.

i also checked the web site of your dealer .

my thought here is that he may be waiting for a couple more special orders to make some sort of a cost quota in order not to have to charge you more. but he may not be saying anything in order to be (a nice guy) and putting the blame on others
