Don't get me started on Roll Models ... the only reason I went there was the Waldron punch and die sets. And it will be the last time.

I certainly hope Rob was not trying to say this, as it's not correct.

Great Models uses several headers to identify the availability of their products. This information is readily available on their website to clarify any questions.

In Stock - means that the product is in the Great Models warehouse. This is right next door to the retail store and the office where online orders are processed. The only issue I've ever seen (other than just plain incorrect information in the computer system) is that stock availability on the website is updated ONCE each day - it's NOT real time. Therefore, if a product had an in-stock level of 2 kits at 9:00am and 4 people order the product, 2 are going to be backordered.

For clarification, here's the complete list of Great Models stock availability "flags" copied directly from their website:

[no status] The item is not currently in stock, but is most likely available for purchase.

[In Stock] The item is in stock since the last download.

[Limited] The item was either released in limited quantities or the stock is limited.

[Reissue] A Reissue is often a limited-quantity release.

[Future] The item is not for sale, but should be in the future. We do not accept pre-orders.

[Taking Pre-Orders] We accept pre-orders on this item. The pre-orders are satisfied first when the item is available. There might be some price adjustments when the item is released.

[On Sale] Overstock items for sale during a limited time. These items are available for next day shipment.

[Discontinued] The item has been discontinued by the manufacturer but few are still available.

[Out of Prod.] All Out of Production products are NOT showing on the database.

[Special Orders] The item is part of a line of products which GreatModels 'special orders' in a foreign country (see link 'Special Orders' on the HOME  page).

Great Models has recently begun listing items with a "Last in Stock" date. These products are routinely ordered to restock the warehouse regardless of whether there are current customer orders. The date simply indicates when the last product was removed from the warehouse. The status will be changed to one of those listed above once the manufacturer has sent more items to Great Models.

Hope this helps...

Perhaps they need a status called "on hand", meaning they have it on the shelf and ready to ship.

If you are interested, come check us out at http://www.spruebrothers.com/.  Our inventory is listed online in real time.  This way you know exactly what you are getting, and you can make an educated buying decision.

I can't claim we are perfect as every once in a while, we can't find an item for whatever reason (sticky fingers, possible data entry errors, mis-placed in warehouse, etc), but our fill rate is over 99.9%.  Since we have everything we sell, you get it fast (just about every order ships in 1 business or less).

ANOTHER REASON TO LOVE SPRUE BROTHERS!!!Bow [bow]

I use Sprue Brothers a lot getting models and supplies from them. Prices are very accomadating to my budget. I really like how they notify the customer about thier order...always let you know when it's been shipped and always include a tracking number. Shipping is the fastest! I always get my order within 3 days of purchase. They certainly made a happy customer out of me!

"In stock" means they can get it from their distributor and is currently available. It does not necessarily mean they have it on hand.

If it says on sale and in stock they should have it.

I always call when I order just to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Does anyone know if on this website when it says last in stock X/X/X and then above it it says on sale and in stock, is it in stock or is it not?

Thanks in advance,

David
