Cloudy Clear plastic
Posted by JCB3 on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 9:50 AM
The 2 top windows on my B-17 became cloudy, while the rest of the clear parts are fine. Is there anything I can do to clean these up? I think its on the inside of the cockpit.I can get to it using a q-tip but thats about it.Would a small drop of future on easch part help or would that just seal the haze more? thanks John

i had a 1/24 trumpeter canopy that was the same way,i used future but it was no help(never had any luck with that stuff but it does work) however if its on the inside and the fusalage is closed that brings the question of what type of glue did ya use?

we're modelers it's what we do

Did you dip your canopy parts in Future before painting and attaching them? Did you use CA to attach them? If the haze is on the inside your only option is to remove it; strip it; polish it; dip it; paint and reattach it or replace it with a new one.

It was not the canopy,it was the small window on the fusalage.I went to Swannys page and saw Windex on a q-tip would remove the future.Sure enough,I was able to get a Q-tip in the fusalage and remove the future and it worked like a charm. Thanks

What's weird is why the window got cloudy in the first place - the Future must have reacted with something, and the usual culprit is super glue fumes.

Glue was not the problem.I used Formula 500,I have used it many times before and never had a problem. I think it was the tape I used ,painters blue masking but Believe it or not the tape was on for over a year
