I almost always have the tv on while I'm working on a project. I watch movies I've seen before so I can work without being being to diseracted. It also has the added bonus of hypnotizing the wife unit, if the tube is on she is pulled into it like a black hole, which gives me at least two hours of modeling Laugh [(-D]

For movies I enjoy the venerable "Top Gun" as well as Memphis Belle.  I do tune in the Military Channel though quite often as I actually find alot of inspiration there to keep plugging along on my armor and military subjects.

That's a sight I'd love to see: you walking around with a picture tube glued to your hand!Laugh [(-D]

Sometimes I might put the Weather Channel on when I model my tornado chase vehicle, especially if there's a big weather event, such as a landfalling hurricane or a tornado outbreak. Unfortunately, it can be a distraction, in large part because the commercials are so annoying (BLEAH BLEAH BLEAH BLEAH BLEAH!) and the Weather Channel is so loaded with them, I spend more time hitting the mute button than working on the model!Angry [:(!]

Unlike music, I can't model and watch the tube. Before you know it, I'm sitting there glued to the tube and not the kit.

I've got Black Sheep Squadron on DVD, I have that on a lot, or if I'm up late enough I catch the Twilight Zone on Sci-fi or i'll put on the Military Channel, and I love M*A*S*H

I really like the 50's-60's TV shows with a "PLAY ALL" selection. Its a pain to have to select each episode.

Movies and television create a much better modeling backdrop for me than music, so I like this thread topic.

Military documentaries that I've recorded, like all of the "Wings of the....." series, classic 50's sci-fi, a good entertaining war movie like Kelly's Heroes or Tora, Tora, Tora, any movie with Godzilla or the Predator in it, or if I'm in for a long stint at the bench, any of the first 5 seasons of the X-Files that I have on DVD. Big Smile [:D]

Armornut, I feel I'm in the same boat.  My dad built a TV holder which suspends from the ceiling.  Before I never watched TV while modeling, often prefering to just listen to talk radio.  Now, however, it seems like I can't work on a model without having some movie playing in front of me!  LOL!  But, like you, I'm not good at multitasking while the tube is on.  That's why I enjoy watching what I just call "brainless" movies.  I'm not saying they're BAD!  Far from it!  It's just that don't really need to have my brain paying 100% attention to it.  I could never watch anything like "The Departed", "Saving Pvt. Ryan" or "The Usual Suspects" on.  Those are movies you really find yourself glued to the TV.  Instead, I'll have movies such as:

All three Matrix movies

All the Godfather movies

Goodfellas

Star Wars

Sin City.....stuff like that.  I love those movies but I can focus more on my models between all the fight scenes, mob hits, laser battles and so on.

I hear ya Armor. It seems I cant walk and talk at the same time either.

For me its just a little background noise. I'm not really paying attention to it until there is a little downtime between activities in the room.

It helps create and maintain the atmosphere.

I like to have the Victory at Sea series on as background and visual relief.

I picked up the whole series for 3 bucks at a flea market and there is a wealth of ww2 footage that you juat have to watch over and over again.

Its not completely accurate but for 3 bucks who cares.

If I have the TV on while I'm modelling its usually turned to a baseball game (substitute football for baseball for the autumn months). The TV is in the next room so I guess I'm technicially not watching unless I jump up to catch a replay.

I know there is a thread on music to model by how about Movies or TV shows?

I never listen to music but I do usually have an old movie or TV show going on. Usually on DVD but sometimes on satellite. Good thing about DVD is you can pause or rewind if you need to.

Any 50's scifi, Mystrey Science Theater 3000 is perfect for me.

50's early 60's sitcoms

50's Western and War

If I'm modelling late at night I will also listen to talk radio.
