It IS understandable from the mods, and even members', standpoint. It might be a challenge, to negotiate an essentially self-policed trading network. I guess it's better to play it safe.

But, am I the only one who is bothered by the fact that a few suck-heads *, people who would cheat their own mothers, dictate whether we take the risk? I guess we better keep inter-member trading off this forum. It probably is easier.

* (and I mean the other end from the head when I say that)

me thinks you  hit the nail on the head

i don't thing the mgt of this forum want to be a part of all the potential problems

it is understandable from their point of view  they try to remain neutral

I honestly don't think many, well not really anyone, would ever cheat someone about something like that...

Sounds like a good idea, but I have this feeling that the moderators will be sticking to what the rule book says...

There is a blurb in the guidelines about trading as it applies to profiteering.

I don't see where it applies to simple trades between members and a forum for that purpose could be done. It depends on whether the users want it and if the admins have reasons to ban something like that - reasons that arent known currently. As it stands, it is simply disallowed - no explanation given.

Im not all that bright and there may be problems with such a forum I dont readily grasp, from a moderation standpoint. Too, advertisers might howl or suppliers mutiny, stuff like that. They figure if we're trading outside their circles, then they are losing profits. In that case, it's back to profiteering; it just depends on which side of the profit fence you happen to reside...

But, it's doable and Ive seen it elsewhere. As always, getting the right people motivated is the main driver towards making it happen.

While i only have but a few kits in my pretty small stash, i think that would be an awesome idea!

On the other hand, i'm wondering if that might possibly violate the TOS here. I'll have to look that up...

Warmest regards,

Roger

...A guy I work with let it slip that he was into modeling one day and we got to talking. I figured what the heck, if I ever built even a fraction of the kits I've amassed, Ill be doing something - so I let him have some of mine. Two boxes worth, to be exact.

He was pretty excited and thought he had gone to heaven. Lots of aircraft, armor, plenty of rebuild projects and partial built-ups; it was like Xmas, to hear him tell it. He said he had never seen such nicely finished models. I took it as a complement.

I also got some more room and a chance to help out a bro. Plus a chance to look hard at my directions and what I could whittle the rest of the collection down to. And of course what few things I might add. Like a new airbrush and maybe a tank-type compressor.

It was liberating, to tell the truth. Maybe a swap-n-trade thing could be done here?
