The 3 kits I have I like. The biggest problem I have with the 109 kits (and looking at pics it carries over to most of the other kits available at this time) is with the dihedral (or lack there of) and those screws/screw holes. And neither of them is really that hard to correct. Had to scribe a fuel cap cover in the left side of the fuselage (maybe 10 minutes max to correct). And the canopies are somewhat on the heavy side - If someone would bring out a set of vac clear parts for about 5 bucks, I wouldn't hesitate to grab it (are you listening Squadron?) On the positive side, as has been noted elsewhere, the decals are nothing short of magnificent and there is no doubt if someone else had produced them, they would have cost more than this kit. And the crew figures are excellent (IMHO either the decals or the figures would be 12 to 20 bucks if released by an AM manufacturer).
I build models to satisfy myself, not you, not my wife, not my best friend or John Q. Public. My bottom line is am I satisfied with it? If you or anyone else likes it that's fine. And if you don't like it that's fine too. I don't really care who manufactured it, just that I like the results (besides which, most of you forget that Mattel (the TOY company) owned Monogram for a lot of years). They don't have the whistles and bells some of the higher priced kits have. They're not "shake and bake" kits by any stretch of the imagination. They're extremely simple kits. But I think they're one of the best bargains on the market.
