That's amazing. When I don't feel like going to the LHS, I go to Hobby Lobby...They have awesome prices, and when you use one of the discount coupons + when theres a sale going on, you get cheap models. I'm looking at a Hasegawa Ju-88 on the clearance rack for $25, regularly $44...Sigh [sigh] Not to mention they carry some brands of paint for far cheaper than the LHS, airbrush parts, glues, and everything else you could want...

Wow your LHS must be crazy....

The same brushes you get at hobby lobby for $4(3pack) you cna get at walmart for $1.

Models are usually $1 or more then walmart/LHS

PS. 90% of everything at HobbyLobby has 200 ro 600% mark up...I've seen the invoices...thtas why its always marked down. we make profit up to 90% off

My Wal-Mart carries almost nothing in the way of models...The LHS prices are crazy unless you use the $5 off coupon and get a cheap kit to begin with.

So Hobby Lobby still makes a profit even with the low prices, sales, and clearance?

You guy's think YOU have problems......find a Hobby Lobby here !

(actually, this is an accurate representation of Hobby Lobby locations in this wide brown land)

If there were only similar bargains to be had down under.........Sigh [sigh]

Me too!!!!!

I read a news article the other day which says a Hobby Lobby was coming to Mesa AZ. I will certainly check it out when it opens, I have heard so much about these shops. There is a near by Hobbytown USA in Gilbert I go to that has some pretty good deals. I bought the Dragon rail gun for $74 after the $5 off coupon I had. Also picked up the Trumpeter Hind for $79 which to date has been the lowest price I ever seen for this kit. The best ever deal I ever got was the Tamiya 1/350 USS Enterprise that I bought for $29.99 years ago.

Not aware of any here in the NW either. I do have a friend in the Phoenix are though, so I'll have to use him to scout some kits if they open up down there.

Threads like this make me feel better about living in KCK!

5 minutes from the house is a Hobby Lobby, Hobbytown USA, micheals and a local shop called Hobby Haven thats very well stocked.

10 minutes away is both Bass Pro and Cabelas.

Now what I need is for work to take us off the 10 and 12 + hours days! I want to build! Black Eye [B)]

While we're talking about great deals (we WERE talking about that, right?) let me tell you about one I MADE.

I had decided to get back into modeling and so was looking at my stash, collected over years. I had a buttload of kits that were half-started, completed, boxed, bagged... you name it, they were there. Some junk, some desirable, but what to do with them all? What else - - give them away and start over!

In an uncharacteristic moment of string-free generosity, I loaded TWO boxes of this stuff up in the truck and took them to my friend Jeff. He is a modeling newbie and was like a kid in a candy shop. I think he got a minor case of dehydration salivating over them. And, I'm pleased to report that, in the time honored tradition of modelers everywhere, he has already started 3 of them.

A great deal for me (in a wierd, non-avaricious way)... a super great deal for him.

Cheers, David
