Dave, we have a modeling day, usually Sunday where we set up extra tables and when everyone build models. Getting only one of them to build models with me is next to impossible because the others want to join in. I have to say that my own models do not get much done on them while we do that, because my help and advice are often required but I have the rest of the week to catch up and at the end of the day, everyone is happy because we've had some decent family time away from the TV! Tena, as the most advanced modeler of them three, will occasionally work by herself too. Eventually, my help will be less and less required and I'll be able to work on my models 7 days a week! LOL

Dave, you better keep your wife away from the forum or these guys are going to fill her head full of ideas that will make it that much longer before you get to build again. They've already got mine up to building all my kits [:0] and making me go shopping for them so she has to time to build them, kind of worried what other things they are going to put her up to but atl east I get to buy them though without much remorse.Tongue [:P]

Well, my kids are eager, but I'm not willing. Thing is I would love to get them involved, but the problem is they would all want to do it at the same time. If I was spending time showing one how to do something, the others would feel left out, even if they were at the same table. (This sounds like a topic starter...)

My wife loves NASCAR. She has built two kits in the past year and a half and has a Dale Earnhardt Jr. car she's eager to start. We also have a Jeff Gordon kit, but she's not fond of him and doesn't want to build it. She's also put together a Harrier for the boys and she enjoys painting miniatures.

For myself, I'm haven't had much time for building so it looks like I'm in collecting mode for now. I have a couple aircraft and armor kits waiting in the basement. I'm also into wargaming (not much time for it anymore) and miniatures, from medieval times to late 1800's and fantasy (Ral Partha, GW, etc.). My primary focus is on Game Workshops' Warhammer and Lord of the Rings figures.

You'll have to post a "modelling" family shot Domi.

Some great pics from Belgium, thanks for sharing.
Happy Modelling and God Bless Robert

Dave, my stepdaughter has been building the occasional model for 4 years or so. She's a bit of a trophy hunter and will only give it everything when her previous model is not making anymore prizes or is not allowed in competitions anymore! LOL But when she gives it everything, she can do pretty well, better than I ever did at her age in any case.

My stepson, Will, is a very occasional modeler, and in any case more interested in wargaming and role playing figures. He still has to overcome impatience and needs more practice but I think he could do very well indeed. Lastly, my wife has started modeling too (not just in the bedroom!) and is rather keen. She has 3 models 'on the go' right now, with the first just about completed. She's very keen to show it here on the forum.

What about you? Any member of the family also involved?

Congratulations to you and your stepdaughter. I didn't realize you had others in your family involved (I read the convention post). That's very cool.

Yes, Dave, this is a mix of pics taken from the comp area and, maybe even more so, from the exhib area... Knowing the people who run the Modelstories website, I know their interest is in weird stuff, rare stuff, exotic and funny subjects, which is very mush so reflected in their website and, to a smaller extent, in this report on the IPMS Belgium Nats.

I did enter the A7V, the Zil Radar truck and the Mk IV Female pictured somewhere here in the comp. All got awarded some metal; my T31 Demolition Tank however did not fare as well. My stepdaughter's M10 tank destroyer got a silver in the Junior classes.

The Pikachu soft toy was on the stand of a French artisan, a guy sculpting some amazing stuff, and it was his girlfriend's contribution to the stand....

Nice pictures. That A7V looked familiar. You were right, a lot of interesting subjects, especially in the 1/48 aviation section. Were those primarily exhibition shots or a mix of exhibition and competition? Did you enter into any of the competition events this year?

By the way, what was the deal with the Pikachu 1/1? I just had to laugh when I saw that.

Here's a link to dozens of pics from the show I attended early in October 2003. The pics are taken from the exhibition and competition areas, so it's also shots of many interesting and rare subjects.

http://modelscale.free.fr/reportages/IPMSBelgium_03P/index.html

This takes you to the main introductory page, but at the bottom, there are links to various picture pages. 4 of my models are featuring there: the A7V, the Mk IV Female, the Zil 157 'Spoon Rest' Radar station (from the competition area) and my 'Oh No, not that lot again' Star Wars scene (from the exhibition area).

Hope you enjoy them all! Big Smile [:D]
