Show What You Built in 2007. Warning for Dialup Users! Tons of Pics!!
Posted by Duke Maddog on Sunday, December 30, 2007 2:40 PM

Okay I'll start.

My 2007 Year in Review

This is the Duke Maddog’s 2007 year of completed models. I figured, it’s a couple of days before New Years and I don’t see myself finishing anything in the next couple of days. If I do, I’ll add it to the count.

My apologies for those on dialup, there are pics of all of my models I built in 2007. All these models are in 1/72 scale exclusively, except for the Matchbox Armor which is in 1/76th scale.

So, unless I finish one more, this is my final count:

75 Models finished in 2007!

I have actually managed to surpass my personal best of 74 models a year.

Here they are in the months that I completed them…..

Nada...Zip! What I started in 2007 will be carried into the new year which is as follows and I will add pic's shortly.

  1. Revell 1/72 VIIC/41. Just about ready for painting but after a good dusting off. GOD! I got 2 more of these in the stash.
  2. Hobbycraft 1/32 Thud with fit problems that's giving me fits!
  3. Pro Modeler (Hasegawa) A-4E which is closer to completion than the Thud due to finding some cool Viet Nam era USMC decals.
  4. A 1/6 Sci-Fi female figure which is more fun and pleasing to the eyes than 1,2 and 3 above.

I was only able to finish 2 of them again this year. That seems to be what I average

First one: :" Mein Gott!! Ivans behind us!"
Dragons 251/22 being flanked by the Russians late in the war.

2nd dio was: BT-7 Recon field report.
Eastern Express BT-7- recon tank officer reporting that there is a whole crapload of German Panzers heading this way!

Thanks for the replies guys! I was hoping there'd be more responses since there are so many prolific quality model builders on these Forums. Manstein, the doog, Espins, and others come to mind. 76 Views and only five posts. Maybe I put this post in the wrong place. I'm worried about calling attention to this Thread in other Forums and be censured for posting Spam.

Oh well, I appreaciate all your responses. For those who didn't finish anything, I'm looking forward to seeing what you build in 2008.

Waterboy, I remember those two dioramas. Theyt are fantastic and I've saved the photos to use as references for when I do a dio myself.

Thanks again guys! happy new year!

This is the 1/6th figure I been working on as a break from the Thud. The figure is huge! to the right is a 1/35th German female auxillary.

I put my one completion in the aircraft forum.  Doubt if anyone wants to see it again.

I may get so drunk, I have to crawl home. But dammit, I'll crawl like a Marine.

Archangel, that is awesome! Fantastic work on that figure. I like the size refernece too; puts things in perspective.

Wayne, it was a great aircraft, finely crafted. I would personally love seeing it here again.

Thank you, but all my aircraft posts were built 1 to 20 years ago.  The only thing I finished this year was a Tony Stewart car for a nephew who races.  I have a lot of things going, some close to done.  Maybe I'll do better this year.

Thanks, db Big Smile [:D]

The hellcat was my first attempt at scratchbuilding.  I scratched the entire ammo bay on the port wing there.  Had to track down brass sqaure tube in the correct size and then figure out a way to cut the slot in them so you could see the ammo.

Here's a close up

The Zero was my first attempt at heavy weathering.  I used the salt technique and scraping.  And in order to the effect I was looking for, I had to put down several layers of paint.  First was primer, then aluminium, then red oxide primer (just like the original zeros) then the top coat.  I put the salt on between the red primer and the top coat and then I scraped it off.  The I applied the decals and just scraped at them with my exacto.  I was pretty happy with the way it turned out.

This actually isn't a bad thread  idea. I never hop into the warship or figures fora, so don't see the productions.

Jan 07: SA.342 Gazelle, Irish Air Corps. 1/72, Airfix

APR 07: PzH2000, German Army, 1/35, Revell.

SEP 07: Strv-103B, Swedish Army, 1/35 Trumpeter.

SEP 07: MiG-29A, Yugoslav Air Force, 1/72, Fujimi.

SEP07: SA.330J Puma, Irish Police, 1/72, Airfix.

For some reason, I thought I had made more.
