Modeling Q & A Video Chat

I gather this idea is a bust.

Weird, you would think people would want to do this? A few of the members here (and on other forums) have tried the chat thing a couple of times. It can be a bit hard to set up as there is quite the spread in time zones. What's convenient for some people is supper or bed time for others.

I would keep this thread going for a bit longer and see if it attracts more interest before killing the idea.

Modelers evolve at different rates....age, experience, available modeling time etc.

I think your concept is a great one, Gerald. You have solid and insightful advice on a broad range of modeling subjects....and references.

Perhaps you need to just narrow it down to a subject (as you do with your 'how to' posts) , advertise it and check the response. I'm willing to bet that whatever the program....more people, newbie and veteran, would show up to watch the fun!

Yeah, I was giving it some more thought too. There are occasions when someone will email me a question, and the answer can be made in about five seconds visually versus writing the reply.

Guess I might try one with a few folks to see how effective it is.

Not a bad idea.  I'm on the east coast but usually up 'til 12 or 1. It just depends on the next day’s schedule.

Instead of getting everyone together "live" to watch the demonstration, how about recording the demonstration, and posting them for viewing on your website? That way, you can still visually answer people's emailed questions, and everyone can view the topic at their leisure.

Maybe you could use something like a blog format, where readers can leave text feedback under the vid, and you can follow up with replies as well.

Nice idea, though. Definitely food for thought.

That's in the works too, my website is undergoing a complete overhaul. It will be more product orientated, with tutorials both video and pictures. It will also include a general modeling area with tips and techniques. 

The live show is something that I can use to do a quick demo or just give you guys a look at the workshop...and answer questions like...what do you use to scribe with...then I can show you.
