Will I be seeing any of your smiling faces there?! Last year I saw Dragonfly... And I found out Swanny was there. I'd really like to meet that guy! Who else will be around? We should all meet or something...

RadMax8, actually I was thinking of i-70 to 670 to 270 is the fastest way for me.I just couldn't remember for the life of me what road it was. It's 670. I hope to see you there.I met Swanny there last year, nice guy i was really appreciative of his kind words about 1 of my builds that was at the show last year. i just have 1 model to enter this year but I can't wait to see all the other great builds that show up every year.

Ah, yes that would be quicker! If you were coming to my house my way would be though lol. You should be scott-free in Columbus when it comes to construction in those areas!

Not me (too cold for this warm-weather lover), but I'm shooting for the 2009 IPMS Nationals!

I went to Blizzardcon yesterday and I was very disappointed with the helicopter turnout both in the contest room as well as the vendor area.Their was only 4 or 5 heli's in the contest and 3 of them were in the master class while the other 2 were in the adult class. So I went to the vendor's area to look for model helicopters and their was not too many choppers for sale.It mainly was tanks and cars/race cars. Now I know they are part of the hobby but when you REALLY!!! have to search for helicopters for sale, then something tells me that's not right.I've been to Blizzardcon since around 94 almost every year and this was the first year I felt like I wasted my time coming up from Cincinnati to the show. That's not a knock against the show or the Rickenbacker chapter,I was just letdown at the non number of helicopters at the show.It was like looking forward to christmas and then not getting anything because of something coming up at the last moment.A BIG LETDOWN!!!

here are a few not so sharp pics from the show.

triple threat, nicely done slants should be deployed

a quartet of quarter scale axis aircraft

this has a great finish.

this bone is huge.

I like shiny things

I got to talk to Dragonfly, the guy that made the shiny mustang! He's a good guy! I'm sorry I didnt get to meet the others... I guess I should have said look out for the kid with the goofy goatee! I hope you all had fun, I know I did. I even took home a ribbon! 1st place in the Adult OOTB Class for aircraft! WOOHOO!!!

Phoenix... I see myself in one of your pictures! Look right above the guy with the jersey. Just above the name on the back, that's me in the background! So close, but yet so far!

Radmax sorry I missed you,was able to find phoenix and talked to him a bit. Congrats on the ribbon. What build and what ribbon ? Phoenix did you place on anything ? I sadly did not this year. Although I did hear a lot of people asking why my model didn't place. But hey you can't win them all. Although I think that one carrier was a beautiful build ,I don't agree with the judges to give him all top four trophy's I do think that there was some exquisite build that should've been able to  share the wealth if you will. But overall, I liked the show and am very excited with the nationals being there next year.

Redmax I saw you 335 nicely done. No, I did win a thing and rightfully so. there were alot of nice models there and I was placed in the master modeler catagory. I'm a good modeler but not a great modeler. I hit alot of shows but loose more ofter then I win. I pick up a few here and there but definently not a prize pigSmile [:)]. I talked to prowannabe and got a pic of redmax. Next time we'll have to make arragments to meet. I maybe at the dayton show this year if either of you 2 are going.

Sorry I missed all of you guys, but I just got time to get on here.  I was one of the aircraft judges at BlizzardCon (I'm an Eddie Rickenbacker Chapter member).  We're really looking forward to next year with both BlizzardCon and the Nationals.  Hopefully I'll get to meet some of you there.

RadMax - did you say you go to WittU?  I graduated from there a LONG time ago.

Scott, I'm still in college at OSU... one of my friends goes to Witt though!! My parents both went to school in Gahanna.

Did you happen to judge a 1/48th scale Do 335? If so, thanks! LOL

Do you ever stop in to Hobbyland on E Broad St.? I work there Thursday nights...

Ah - I got my MS at OSU. My son is a freshman there now.

Nice to meet you - I'll stop by the Hobbyland and say hello sometime.  I don't usually get there except on weekends, but I'll make a special effort.  Not this week though -- I know I have a conflict.  Maybe next week.

Actually, there were two teams judging aircraft, and I think the other team got the "pleasure" of judging that category... <grin>  Too many nice models, and really nit-picky things knocked out some of the entries.  That's always the way it is in 1/48... way too many good models.   Those categories always take forever to judge, because there are so many great entries.

I think we judged the allied, and the other team got the axis, but I don't remember for sure now.

Small world, isn't it? What's your son in for? I'm going for engineering. Let me tell you, it's tough on the modeling time!!!

It'd be real cool to see you stop in! Take your time, I'm there pretty much every Thursday night, from about 4 (usually a little later, I leave OSU at 3:30 and I try to get some food before work and traffic on Broad St. is a mess) until I close at 8.  I take it you like to build 1/48 scale airplanes yourself? Any particular subjects?

My son is in Aeronautical Engineering.  So possibly you guys pass each other all the time on the street or in classes.

I build all kinds of aircraft.  Right now, I'm doing a series of 144 scale stuff, just to get back into the swing of actually COMPLETING a model <grin>. But I do a lot of 1/48 WW-II A/C, and anything  USN.  Of course, since my son is in ROTC and wants to be a pilot, I guess I'll start building USAF stuff too...
