vinyl damage to plastic

I am cringing thinking about my AMT Tigercat kits that I opened. I hope those tires have not come into contact with the plastic. If I could I would go and check and remove them, like I should have done years ago, once I knew of this problem. Ahh complacency.

I had something similar happen in a survival kit, the "plastic" fishing lures glommed onto some of the other plastic things and, ummm, combined. It's caused by the chemicals in the "soft" plastics being released, which in turn creates a chemical reaction with other nearby plastics. It would be nice if the manufacturers would put the vinyl tires in a separate plastic bag, but then that would add like 2 cents to their production costs, so that won't happen.
