Everytime I work on a project, my 2 /12 year old daughter always asks if I'm working on "Big Tank" Then she asks, "Me big tank too?" So, I went out a few months ago and bought her a cool diecast tank ( It's a Sherman) and removed all the small pieces. Now, everytime I build, she brings her tank out and sits at the table with me. Greg,
Tell Nicola how pleased we all are for her and tell her we hope she enjoys every minute of the build, and the sense of accomplishment she'll get.
Try and post a picture so we can tell her how much we like the great job she's done.
All the very best to you two,
Cheers, mate

Dear Greg and Nicola,

You have truly raised my spirits! As the proud new pappa of a three month old little girl I am very encouraged to see girls getting into the hobby as well. Believe it or not my one and only concern once I found out I was having a daughter was "Will she also like model airplanes???" I see now through you two that it is entirely possible! On a serious note, I honestly feel bad for anyone who does not have a hobby. Any hobby is a great discipline which can foster learning and the pursuit of self-improvement. Your daughter is going to (hopefully) hold onto this hobby for the rest of her life. Congratulations once again.

Eric

Well done, Nicola (and Greg!)... Hope to see your completed model very soon! Maybe you can join Dad at the Southern Expo next year, and exchange tips and ideas with my step-daughter Tena (who is now busy building another tank...).

Good luck!

That's really great, Greg. My kids have gotten involved at one time or another with models. My 9-year-old has a thing for jets of all kinds. Glad to see your family sharing your hobby. - Ed

That's great Greg! My son who is 5 recently picked out (he picked a car, boy I thought I taught him better! LOL) and built his first Snap-Tite. It proudly sits on top of the entertainment center for all to enjoy.Smile [:)]

Way to go guys!!!!!!!! I know the feeling of a proud dad!!!!!!

I bought 2 monster truck models on e-bay a while back, and just recently my son has asked if "we" can put it together...... so today we started it!!!!!!!! He is 5 also !!!! Snap kits??? We don't need no stinkin snap kits!!! LOL LOL

He is showing me what parts go where, and he is applying the glue!!!!

He is soooo proud of himself.........

This is what being a parent is all about!!!

They say, a few hours a day with your children is what makes the difference......

Most of all i'm proud of him!!!

Now, if i can only get my 3 year old to sit long enough to show him how to build..............................

This thread is worthless without pictures! Greg, I know you're proud of yours as I am proud of mine. I love it when Dads take the time with their children. Over the years I've heard too much of the phrase "It's quality, not quanitity". I can positively affirm that it takes a whole lot of both, and it sounds as if your daughter is one blessed recipient of her Dad's attention. Keep it up!

Good for you Greg and the others. I'm a little jealous, but happy that your children are catching the modeling bug.

That's what it's all about. I know I was thrilled when my oldest built his first one recently and he thought it was cool just to sit at the table and build with me. He's saving his allownace up for a " model snaptite plastic model " as he puts it now and has already informed that after he does that one he will be ready to glue one together and paint it. And he's only 5.

That is great Greg. Another proud pappa joins the world. Lets hope she likes doing it and will stick with it. Another model builder will help out the hobby.

Hey guys and gals, My daughter Nicola (12) is - as i am typing this - working on her first model. she's doing a 1/100th BAC Jaguar A. it is a cheap snapkit but she is gluing it together (at her insistance) and she is doing quite well. just thought i would let you all know (proud dad that i am)Big Smile [:D]. she has just shown me that she has sucsessfuly placed on the underbelly fuel tank. BTW the kit had no instructions. and i have so far managed not to take over the build Smile [:)]. not that she would let me LoL. Greg
