I dont play but i have a lot of fun paining Reaper Miniatures (reapermini.com) and have learned a bit about how colors work from doing it in such a small scale.

Each year I score one of the Reaper'con  Sophies, they are fun.

The detail is just incredible. How do they get them out of the molds??

I've done some of  the Lord of the Rings figures from Games Workshop.  Their Mumak is one of the most impressive plastic kits I've ever seen.

I painted white metal miniatures back when I was into War gamming/Dungeons and Dragons (late 70's early 80's).

The same painting skills and techniques are used. Shading, weathering, dry brushing, etc.

I acquired hundreds of the white metal figures(still in original packaging) and a few plastic figures (horrible detail)  when a local toy/game store (Toys By Roy) closed its doors.

I remember the miniature makers had their equivalents of plastic model makers. Horrible detail (like Aurora), lots of "flash" (like Lindburg) and the better ones (Revell/Monogram). The only maker I can remember is Ral Partha, one of the better ones.

The newer miniatures I've seen are absolutely beautiful, fantastic detail. They seem to be made of a plastic or ceramic material and from what I hear takes paint very well.

The "Hero Clic" line comes prepainted and are pretty well done.

I'm not sure the ole eyeballs would be up the the task of painting these little guys.

Me too...I want to do some dios but not have them in battle...more pre and post battle. Like so many "ACCURATE" military dios.

I have been interested in miniatures for a few years now. Haven't jumped into it yet. And like you I am not interested in the games, but I like some of the figures you can get. Painting them up takes a good bit of skill to do well and that is what I find the most interesting. Someday I plan to get into it. I dream of doing dioromas of battles wtih them some day. Some of the fanasty figures are pieces of in of themselves. Once I have alittle more disposable income I plan to get into them actually start painting some up.

Cant help you there but I have seen some great detail in the gaming peices.

There are some great small footprint diorama possibilities.

Post some pics if you get anything going.

War Gamming Models...

Hi guys...I was just wondering what everyones thoughts were on the wargamming models. I don't play the games at all (too many rules), but I LOVE the models and game pieces. I think some of them have great detail and there are awesome techniques for dio making out of nothing. Plus you can add as many details as you want because if you don't care about the games then really all that's left is your imagination!  Anyways...I'd love to hear your opinion on this subject, or if you're a crossover modeler let's talk. Thanks,

Jaysun!
