Hey all,
I haven't been posting too much here but usually check here daily. Well, today my uncle moved here from Michigan and as we were unloading the truck, he pulled out a flag.
I knew my grandfather was in WW2 and he died when I was real young. I never knew exactly what he did in the war until today......
He was an engineer I do not know any specifics as far as unit. I was told he had gotten this Nazi flag from Germany as they were marching across. I was stunned to find out this is the real deal and not a fake. I kept asking him and my mom if it was real and they assured me it was. I said "can I have it?" half jokingly and to my surprise he said I could under one condition. I keep it in the family and never give it away or sell it. i said it is done... So here is my score....
Sorry, photobucket took my pictures off!!
I can email them to you if you want to see it.
This flag is of cloth material and has a few moth holes in it. The colors are vibrant. I in no way condone what this flag stood for, but I do cherish the history that is behind it and how it came to my possession. I will find out more about my grandfather in the near future as my uncle now lives approx. 10 miles from me. He said my aunt has a flag with 48 stars he is going to get and will give it to me also. I told him he could give me anything he wanted and it will be safe. I am humbled by his generosity as he also said he has no family that will cherish it to pass this on to.
