I stand corrected .....and offer apologies
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, November 2, 2003 4:16 PM
A few days back I ranted and raved how there were no model shows or organizations in my (Providence,RI) area. I stand corrected. Today I went to BAYCON 2003 run by IPMS/Bay Colony Historical Models. The show was in South Attleboro, MA and was about a 10 minute drive for me. IPMS/Bay Colony has members all throughout the local area and put this show on every year. It was a small show, but there was some interesting entries nontheless. (Sorry, no pics) Planes led the way in # of entries with cars a close second. Armor surprisingly, was a very distant third. Ships well there may have been 4 or 5. A lot of figures and some other miscellaneous. I rather liked the 1/32 MIG-19 in bare metal finish. So to anyone from IPMS/Bay Colony who may be reading this, I offer my apologies and am looking forward to going next year. Anyone who wants to see pictures can probably see them on the chapter website. Go to the IPMS site and click on chapters.

Breezely1,
I too was at Baycon today and I'm glad you liked the show (at least it sounded like you were pleasantly surprised) I've been attending Baycon for the past 10 or 12 years and have entered for the past two. The show was one of the best attended ones I've seen.
That MIG-19 was indeed nice! By the way, I'm from Warwick.

Yes it was interesting. Never been to a real competition before. The MIG-19 was nice, there was a navy helicopter that was pretty sharp, I liked the big F-105 too. Rather surprised by the lack of armor, and I really didn't expect much in ships. What did you enter Paul? We live in Riverside by the way.

Breezely,
I entered the 1/350 scale USS Arizona, and I took first place in the "Ships" category. (Forgive me for bragging, but second year in a
row!) Cool [8D]

Thanks everyone. Next year I'm going to try my luck with the Trumpeter Hornet.
She's half done already.
