Bob Walker
South Surrey, British Columbia, Canada

“In 1839, Samuel Cunard of Halifax, Nova Scotia, commissioned Robert Duncan, shipbuilder on the Clyde River at Greenock, Scotland, to build four vessels for his new shipping line. These ships retained the design of the clippers of their day but would be steam-powered paddlewheelers. The first, Brittania, was launched in 1840,” writes Bob, who converted Revell’s 36"-long 1/70 scale Thermopylae for RC operation, adding ballast to bring it to waterline, squaring off the stern, and decking it with wood coffee stirrers. “I still have to add sails,” he says.
