Allwood Brand’s 1/16 scale stagecoach was the point of
departure for Nelson’s Packer’s Express. He used paper clips and piano wire for metal parts; paper towels,
white glue, and coffee for tarps; paper napkins, white glue, and mahogany stain
for seats; cotton thread and oak stain for ropes; and spray-can paints and
satin polyurethane for the finish. Then he topped off the project by hanging a
self-designed “Remove Before Flight” sign from the driver’s box. Nelson says,
“This was a six-month project of puttering when I felt like it, having a cold
brewski when I didn’t.”
