HobbyBoss' Krupp K5(E) ‘Leopold’ railway gun and BR-52 ‘Kriegslokomotive’

Andrew Palella
Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey

“This is a combination of HobbyBoss' Krupp K5(E) ‘Leopold’ railway gun and BR-52 ‘Kriegslokomotive’ in 1/72 scale,” Andrew writes. “The K5(E) was a Christmas gift from my parents two years ago, and I bought the locomotive with my own money.” Andrew used Tamiya, Humbrol, and Testors Model Master paints and weathered with artist's oils and pigments. “The whole project took 14 months, but it was worth every minute.” Andrew says this is his last big project for a while. After graduating from high school he reported to West Point in June 2011 for basic training before joining the Class of 2015.

Nice work on your "Leopold" and "Krieglok". I have the models myself in 1/72 and also plan to get them in 1/35.

Great model. Railroads played a big part in WW2 yet its rare to see them modelled. I like the 'splinter' camouflage.

I have been thinking about getting the loco. Now that I see what she looks like, guess I will go for it. Nice job on the kit. All the best at West Point. Hope things go your direction.
