“With the help of countless pictures, I made the engine, cockpit, and undercarriage bays as detailed as I could,” Max says. “Most of the detail is scratchbuilt.” He painted Dragon’s 1/48 scale Heinkel He 162D with Humbrol enamels and Testors Model Master aluminum with a flat clear. “The fuselage represents an unpainted one, with only primer over the rivets,” he says.
He surrounded his Volksjäger with diorama supplies from Tamiya, Verlinden, Hauler, Wingz Aero Products, and “Eduard RAF personnel reshaped into Heinkel factory workers,” he says.
