Building Tamiya’s 1/48 scale P-51D, John writes: “This model had a couple of firsts for me. It was the first time I used an airbrush, and the first time I tried any kind of detailing. I cut off the ailerons, elevators, and rudder pieces and repositioned them all to show the aircraft banking and steering to the left, then hung the model from the ceiling to show it at that moment in a dive just before it starts to climb out.” John stained the machine gun ports with soot, and added some mud splatters and footprints to the wings.
