Michael’s is a sad tale: “This is a kitbashed 1/48 scale model of a moon-based U.S.-Earth Patrol Fighter,” he writes. “It is painted in a Mars patrol paint scheme. I made it from 1/48 scale F-15 and F-18 parts and lots of body putty. The base is made of plastic stock and parts from my scrap box. Two weeks after this photo was taken, this model and others were destroyed in a fire that leveled the hobby store where it was on display.”
