Christian Raven, Seabeck, Washington
Christian laid plaster cobblestones on a mahogany base to display what he identified as a “1954 Revell of Brazil” kit. However, Tom Graham’s book Remembering Revell (Schiffer, ISBN 978-0-7643-1696-8) says it was 1953 when Revell repackaged Marlin’s “American Firefighters” in a 1/48 scale series that originally included three kits: the Steamer, the Chemical and Ladder, and the one shown here, the Hose Reel. The kit provided metal rods, thick twine for hoses, and flexible plastic tape for reins. Revell added the horses, firemen, and Dalmatian.
This was the first series of kits I ever built, in the late 1950s. The best two were the articulated hook and ladder wagon and big, long water tower wagon. Never see those two kits any longer, even on eBay. Fun kits though.
Very nice build!
