“I was inspired to build this (1/35 scale) diorama after reading Louis Morton’s The Fall of the Philippines and realizing I had never seen a diorama depicting the early war in the Pacific,” writes Alex. “The Bantam reconnaissance car (some of which were in the Philippines) is from MiniArt, and the Stuart is the old Tamiya kit. The biggest challenge in this diorama was getting figures representative of U.S. uniforms of the time. Taking from MiniArt, Dragon, and Italeri kits, I converted the lower legs to represent American leggings. The upper torsos are from British army sets, converted to American styles by eliminating the bellows pockets and epaulets and modifying the suspenders. The palm trees are from Pegasus.”
